Ever since I can remember, I have always liked serving others somehow. Whether it is to be a listening ear or cheering others up, I love being there for people. As I was growing up, I was constantly looking for a therapist of color that had a similar background as me: being raised in a Vietnamese household while growing up in an American society. Fortunately, I was able to find a therapist of color in high school, but it made me realize there weren’t many therapists of color. It inspired me to be a therapist of color for other people trying to find someone they identify with, to let them know they aren’t alone in their experience.
My experience consists of utilizing cognitive-behavioral interventions with children from as young as four years old to adolescents. I have worked as a community-support specialist with families and children dealing with trauma. I have also worked in various settings providing interventions to children such as in their homes, schools, and in center-based settings.
I focus mainly on a person-centered approach with some cognitive-behavioral interventions. I love working from a non-judgmental perspective while also practicing interventions to help my clients manage their struggles on their own one day. I aspire to be a licensed practicing counselor that will work with many people of different backgrounds and ages one day. Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in counseling to achieve my goals.
I enjoy exploring different restaurants and bingeing Netflix and any other streaming service in my free time. I also try to do some bullet journaling and crocheting if I have the time!
I look forward to working with you!
